As a climate change wild eyed hard left liberal I hate to say it but Irma is shaping up to be a nothingburger. Looks like a cat 1 at worst by the time she hits the ATL

In other words you're a moron.
Man made climate change is not happening, a scam and the rate of sea level rise has not changed no matter what your fellow idiots try to say.

where is the 12-foot surge that was supposed to be coming?

      Miami flooded.

And the west coast has to wait until the eye passes. The wind has to blow east for a surge.

Still no surge. You gonna keep hyping it or finally admit it's not coming?

    • 3 hours ago - Pushy Stephanie Abrams on TWC was standing by the Manatee River in Bradenton claiming that the storm surge was huge! The in-studio scientist guy had to point out to her "isn't that just the high tide?"

 She is such an ignoramus. She didn't even know what's going on. It WAS the high tide which had already been mentioned as at about 7PM and a good thing because it was going to go back down and then the storm would pull it out to sea more long before the eye even arrives and it would be low tide when the storm surge comes into Tampa Bay.

No one has gone into the worst hit areas yet. There is no one there to check on anything or send photos for your entertainment. The maximum storm surge is what you prepare for - not what you hope for.

I saw a couple of photos of the storm surge in the Keys - water about 5 feet high against a house or apartment and not receding at all.

TWC often plays shows about all sorts of disasters including interviews with survivors telling their tale. Storm surge is a very real phenomenom, I have watched programs with survivors near Galveston and Louisiana describing what it is like when the house on stilts (2nd story) is filling with water and they had to climb to an attic or roof to escape. No one knows right now what is left along the coast in Everglades City and Marco Island.

That's a damn shame. They're gonna need some glue for that flower pot

I think the pot has suffered permanent lifelong damage that can never be fully repaired like the rest of florida

That flower pot should qualify for plenty of FEMA cash.

Water peaked at 7 ft. above MLLW in Naples and is receding. Normal high tide is 3 ft. above MLLW. :boring:

Naples, Marco Island, Cape Coral, Fort Myers - those SW areas are still getting hit by the backside of the hurricane and storm surge.

BTW sonny, "Naples" is a builtup city and where they are reporting from for location purposes, but that isn't all there is.

Sorry it wasn't high tide and maximum damage and death when the surge came in so you could be better entertained. Maybe RL isn't your thing and you should stick to watching movies.

Even funnier, for some reason Irma hates Miami. On prediction models, Miami is going to get the last of all the bands still hitting there until the whole thing finally pulls away into Georgia.

Yup, it ain't over till the fat lady sinks. Lots of water has to move back after the storm. No one really knows what could happen. Only idiots would say they are alarmists.
