Both Dali and especially Picasso were impostors.

I would respectfully disagree; while lots of modern artists might well be impostors, both of those two demonstrated mastery of earlier styles before heading off into new territory. You might disagree with their taste, but after you look at their earlier stuff in traditional styles, you can't dispute their artistry.

Picasso achieved medicocrity early on and then went to shit from there! So yes I absolutely dispute his artistry!

Dali I am indifferent to and happy to ignore completely! His work is ugly and ultimately juvenile/infantile. IMHO

Rothkos horizon paintings look like shit in a book but if you see them at a gallery they are impressive.

I once painted a copy of a Rothko and posted it on Facebook. No one could tell which was the original.

      :puke:

Not OP, but actually I would consider that very visceral and poignant characterisation, and really you would have to consider that detail within the broader scheme of the work!

Bruegel was indeed a painter of great merit!
