    • Sri Lanka blocks Facebook, Instagram to prevent spread of hate speech
Sri Lanka has temporarily blocked social media web sites like Facebook, Instagram and WhatsApp to avoid the spread of hate speech in the country.

The Cabinet Spokesman Minister Rajitha Senaratne on Wednesday said the government has decided to block access to certain social media.

Telecom Regulatory Commission (TRC) has started to monitor all social media platforms to curb hate speech related to communal riots escalated in Kandy district.

Telecommunication service providers (ISPs) have also restricted internet access in Kandy district on the instructions of the TRC.

Sri Lanka Telecom said in a twitter message that in line with the directive from the TRC, access to certain social media sites and messaging platforms will be restricted with immediate effect until further notice.

Well, I was heading to Congress on public transport and this really hard-hitting advert TOTALLY made me reconsider my position on that issue, even though it meant passing up several million from lobby groups.

    • This cat has nine lives: Daily Stormer back up with new .cat domain
With his trolling of the NFL, Trump has done what is likely to go down in history as the most important thing of his Presidency: he has forced all enemies of America to openly disavow the nation, and to state plainly that they are not - and in fact never were - a part of it.

The sheer scale of the importance of this historic event is difficult to even grasp.

What we have been dealing with since WWII when all of these Jews came into our country and took over is a psychological warfare program aimed at telling us that we were not us, that everyone else was us.

Jews redefined America from what it was founded as - a white nation - into "a nation of immigrants." They took away the concept of shared ancestry being the defining factor of nation and inserted the idea that somehow a nation could be defined by "an idea."

A nation cannot be defined by an idea. A nation is not an abstract concept. A nation is a people and the land they live on: blood and soil.

    • Top German Mag Yanks 'Anti-Semitic' Book From Bestseller List
A bestselling book that discusses how Germany dealt with the Holocaust has been yanked from the bestseller list of Der Spiegel after the influential news magazine determined it was "anti-Semitic and historically revisionist."

"Finis Germania," which means "The End of Germany" in English, is a collection of essays by historian and social scientist Rolf Peter Sieferle, who committed suicide last September at the age of 67. It has caused an uproar through Germany.

The book shot to the top of the bestseller list of Amazon's German site, but Der Spiegel pulled it from its own list because the magazine's brass found it "rightwing extremist, anti-Semitic and historically revisionist," deputy editor Susanne Beyer told The Guardian.

    • The problem with the MSM isn't about the facts.
A pretty good example would be in the reporting of a typical holiday police checkpoint. X number of arrests, Y amount of drugs confiscated, Z number of DUIs removed from the road. What's not being reported is how many innocent citizens were essentially asked for their "papers" in the process; how much overtime the taxpayers got billed for; and how much it was going to cost the taxpayers to process those people through the police/judicial/prison industries. There's also the uncritical view of cop math concerning the value of drug seizures.

Everyone likes a good human interest story. Pepe/Sven/Muhammed come to America (legally or not) for the opportunities and they have an interesting tale. What's never reported is the impact on the rest of us. The only reason that Trump is President is that two generations of blue collar workers have paid the economic price for cheap illegal labor and horrible trade deals; they were willing to roll the dice.

A story ain't just about the "facts."

No, that would not be me re: Nazi vs Left.

For your edification, the term 'fascist' is bandied about more loosely these days:

      http://www.urbandictionary.com/define.php?term=fascist

      1. Someone who believes in a totalitarian state rule by a supreme leader (dictator) who controls everything possible and treats people harshly -- to gain the leader's own success,* to foment an aggressive military nationalism, and to promote a Social Darwinist belief that hard life strengthens the state by weeding out the weak.

      2. A lesser authority (corporation, mayor, cop, boss, parent) who legally issues harsh, burdensome, micro-managing, insensitive, or uncaring orders -- especially when they know, or should know, that their goals can be accomplished with more autonomy and much less hardship or distress.

    • The chief of staff for Hungary's prime minister has slammed Facebook after a video he posted on the site was 'banned'.

Janos Lazar was being filmed during a visit to Vienna when he made controversial comments about immigrants living in the city.

"Vienna has become a worse place because of the refugees," he says in the video, which was published Tuesday on his Facebook page.

"Evidently the streets are dirtier, evidently the area is poorer and there's lots more crime," he continues while walking though the Favoriten district. The quarter has the fourth highest foreign population in the city according to official figures, although most Viennese residents with a foreign background come from Serbia, Turkey and Germany.

He goes on to say that Hungarian cities would also deteriorate should opposition parties win national elections in April and "let in the migrants".

Amnesty International has criticized the Washington Metro's rejection of an ad campaign featuring depictions of U.S. President Donald Trump, Russian President Vladimir Putin and North Korean leader Kim Jong Un.

A spokeswoman for the human rights group, Kharunya Paramaguru, tells The Washington Post the intended four-week, $35,000 ad campaign was intended to support "a new era of activism" in response to "hateful rhetoric" from global political leaders. Metro rejected the ads submitted Feb. 12, citing its policy banning issue-oriented advertising.

That advertising ban has drawn controversy since it was adopted in 2015, when an anti-Muslim group tried to place ads featuring an offensive depiction of the prophet Muhammad.

In a Thursday statement, Amnesty International USA executive director Margaret Huang said Washington was the market where advocacy ads are needed most.
